FAQs

Questions about services:

Q. What ages do you work with?

A. I will work with any one for whom virtual therapy is effective! In my experience, children younger than 5 years tend to benefit more from in-person therapy than virtual therapy, so I would likely refer younger children to an in-person therapist. However, I am happy to offer a free consultation to discuss this further with regards to your particular situation! We can then decide from there whether to proceed or explore referrals.

Q. Can you see clients in any country/state?

A. Because I am an expressive arts therapist, the services offered by this practice are not currently limited by state licensure in the USA. At this time, I am not aware of any limitation on the location of the clients that I see. However, before we meet, I will research the appropriate laws that regulate wherever a potential client may be to ensure that I am operating legally and ethically to the best of my knowledge and ability.

Q. Do you offer faith-based therapy?

A. I do not specifically offer faith-based therapy. However, my therapeutic approach is inherently nonjudgmental and able to be individualized to each client’s specific needs. Each client is welcome to bring in any aspect of themselves that they would like to incorporate into their healing journey including their faith.

Questions about payment:

Q. Do you accept health insurance?

A. No, I do not accept health insurance. Most health insurance companies (in America) want to work only with therapists who hold state licenses. Since I have chosen not to be state licensed in order to be able to offer services to clients without location limitations, I cannot work directly with health insurance companies. However, some insurance companies are happy to provide reimbursement for out of pocket therapy services, even if they will not cover the cost of therapy up front. If you would like to pursue this option, I would suggest that you call your insurance company and ask about reimbursement options. In this scenario, you would pay all therapy expenses out of pocket, and then I would provide you with a monthly super bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?

A. I accept most major credit/debit cards. I am also happy to explore alternative payment options such as HSA/FSA. If you are a sending organization interested in covering mental health care expenses for TCKs within your organization as a part of your benefits package, I am also happy to create a contract specifically with your organization to streamline this process.
