Wayfinding to Wellness: Two Projects Supporting TCKs

This last year has been a bit quieter on the marketing side of things - but much busier behind the scenes! This year I had the privilege of participating in a number of exciting projects, two of which have both been launched and are ready for you to explore! I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to participate in both of these projects - and coincidentally they were both created by Interaction International!

Project #1 - Wayfinder: Home Assignments

Wayfinder: Home Assignments is a self-lead curriculum created to support TCKs and their families during home assignments! Those of us who have ever experienced a home assignment know that they bring with them their own unique sets of transitions and challenges. This curriculum is designed to educate and provide tools for parents and their TCKs to prepare and navigate these challenges - in creative, engaging and age-appropriate ways!

This was such a fun project to be a part of. Along with a great group of other TCK professionals, I helped by brainstorming and generating creative prompts and activities for the different topics covered in the curriculum. Since my expertise is in art therapy with all ages including younger kids, I especially enjoyed working on some of the prompts for the 2-6 year olds!

This really is an awesome resource - AND it’s built to be flexible, inclusive, and easy to do on the go.

Project #2 - TCK Wellness

TCK Wellness is a therapist directory created specifically for therapists who are TCK-Informed and it was also dreamed up by the wonderful people at Interaction International! Mental health professionals who work with TCKs can apply through TCK Wellness to receive a “TCK-Informed Certification” and then be listed on the directory! Being in the directory gives them access to networking opportunities, TCK specific continuing education, round tables with other TCK professionals, and a platform on which clients can more easily find them. Not only does this benefit therapists in innumerable ways, it benefits the entire TCK community by making quality mental health care more accessible to those that need it.

I am so grateful for the way that Interaction International approached this project. It wasn’t just creating a website and designing a certification logo. They wanted to make sure that people on this directory were truly TCK-informed. Which meant dedicating time and thoughtful effort to putting words to something that had never been defined before. They gathered together a group of experienced mental health professionals who are already specialized in TCK care and together we thought deeply about how to define this space that we had chosen to build our careers in.

I feel honored that I was asked to be a part of this conversation and the resulting project. I am thankful for Interactions evident care, compassion, and drive to advocate for TCKs mental health. And I am really really excited to see how this directory will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of so many TCKs.
